Abstract

The effectiveness and profitability of any given organisation depends on the level of performance of both organisation and staffs who play critical roles within any given establishment. The roles of employees to an organization’s effectiveness and efficiency is critical for organisational growth and success. Employees play important roles to both short term and long objectives of an organisation. Employees within the higher education are faced with the provision of quality service such as teaching and impacting positively in the lives of students. This requires the recruitment and the retention of qualified employees to provide maximum performance. Employee retention is a growing problem facing the higher education sector. Higher education institutions are faced with soaring number of employee turnovers. Institutions are faced with keeping up with providing quality services with the growing number of employee retention. The role of reward systems plays a crucial role in the motivation of employees regarding improvement of both individual and organizational performance. The main importance of providing reward systems and mechanisms is to provide both financial and non-financial incentives to employees to allow them feel appreciated or perform better at their specified task, which they carry out at work. Reward management systems is a valuable tool in provision of retention mechanism for quality staff within an organisation. Quality plays important roles service delivery within the higher education sector. The main aim of this strategic project is to carry out a qualitative research on a critical analysis on reward management systems as an incentive and motivational tool for the retention of employees in the higher education sector. A focus on higher education institutions within the United Kingdom.
