Abstract

The Learning Church series offers a range of brief and accessible introductions to the key themes of Christian discipleship and theology. What do Christians believe the Bible to be, and what are the consequences of these beliefs? For many people, tackling the Bible is rather like sorting the attic: lots of obscure and long forgotten paraphernalia, a certain amount of untidiness and mess ...but perhaps some hidden gems. Seeking to ask the questions which 'ordinary people' might ask about the relevance of the Bible for today's Church, this book aims to equip those who want to find ways of making it more useful, and to help them explore with openness and honesty the difficulties of trying to use an ancient text as a guide for contemporary faith.
