Dr Graeme Callister has worked at York St John University since 2014, since completing his PhD at the University of York. His main research interest lies in revolutionary and Napoleonic Europe, and he has recently published books on the French I Corps at Waterloo, the history of battle, and public opinion and foreign policy in western Europe. He has an especial interest in areas of 'new' diplomatic and military history, including civil-military relations, the influence of public perception on policy and warfare, and the experience of conflict for the individual. In 2021 he won the British Commission for Military History's Sir Michael Howard prize. He is currently working on a book on military conscription in Napoleonic France.
