Biography:

Keith McDonald holds a PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London, and is a senior lecturer at York St John University. His publications include Contemporary Gothic and Horror Film: Transnational Perspectives (Anthem 2021) and Guillermo del Toro: Film as Alchemic Art (Bloomsbury: 2015). He is currently co-writing a book named The Spectral West: Surer Nature and the Gothic in the Western Film (Anthem, 2025). Research interests include Gothic and Horror Film, popular culture and genre, hauntology, fan cultures and Transnational Cinema.
