Adam's primary research is in Utopian Studies, SF and modernism. What ties these interdisciplinary areas together is an interest in how narrative and form can be mobilised to make political arguments. He also has interests in critical theory, cultural and intellectual history and the digital humanities. His monograph entitled 'Modern Dystopian Fiction and Political Thought: Narratives of World Politics' is published by Routledge (2018). He's previously written on a range of authors including George Orwell, John Wyndham, Margaret Atwood, Katharine Burdekin and Bram Stoker.
