I joined the department in 2018 as a lecturer in Politics, having completed my PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2015. I previously taught on modules covering, British Politics, Comparative Politics, European Politics and Political economy at The University of Sheffield, The University of Liverpool and the University of Leicester. I have taught broadly across the politics and international relations programmes at York St John University. I have designed and taught modules covering comparative politics, the European union, British foreign policy, British political parties, global political economy, economic crises, democratic states and authoritarian regimes. I have also contributed to teaching on the foundation programme, delivering lectures on Marxism and utopianism. I have published my research in the journals Government and Opposition, The Political Quarterly and British Politics and completed two manuscripts; The Political Economy of Britain in Crisis in 2017 (published with Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), which compares and contrasts two crises in modern British history, the trade union crisis of the 1970s and the banking sector crisis of 2008, and Classifying Elections in Britain (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020), which analyses different types of elections in the UK. I have further contributed to the Conversation and BBC Radio York. I am also completing a further monograph which explores the history of the British Labour Party and looks at how its economic policy has developed since 1906 (expected publication 2022, with Bristol University Press).
