Dr Amjad Alam is the Deputy Associate Dean for the Computer Science Department at York St John University (London Campus). With over 18 years of experience in higher education, he has taught and supervised students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas such as Cyber Security, Internet of Things (IoT), Advanced Programming, Data Analytics, and Networking.

Dr Amjad Alam is the Deputy Associate Dean for the Computer Science Department at York St John University (London Campus). With over 18 years of experience in higher education, he has taught and supervised students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas such as Cyber Security, Internet of Things (IoT), Advanced Programming, Data Analytics, and Networking.
Dr Alam completed his PhD at Middlesex University in October 2025, focusing on Vehicular Network Energy Optimisation and efficiency in vehicular edge networks. He holds an MSc in Strategic Management (IT) from the University of Greenwich and professional credentials including CCNP, CCNA, IoT and Cyber Security certifications, alongside A1 Assessor, V1 Internal Verifier, EPA Assessor (L6–L7), and QTLS. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Dr Alam has contributed extensively to academic quality assurance through his roles as an External Examiner and Verifier for BPP University, Buckinghamshire New University, and others. His research focuses on energy-efficient vehicular edge networks, and his recent publications include:

He continues to advance research and teaching innovation in computing, with a strong emphasis on practical, industry-informed learning and student success.
His teaching and research are industry-informed, with a focus on applied learning, laboratory-led practice (including IoT labs), and student success.
