Abstract
The aim of this portfolio review is to showcase the contribution of the submitted portfolio of papers on how Small and Medium Enterprises can successfully navigate during crisis through successful crisis management that can lead to increased organizational resilience. This review also presents the significance of the portfolio towards filling important gaps in existing literature, like a) how Small and Medium Enterprises can enhance their organizational resilience during disruptions by enhancing their supply chain visibility via the use of new technologies, b) the combination of the Second Order Stochastic Dominance Theory of decision making with ethical decision making aspects during financial crisis and via real -life examples, towards enhanced organizational resilience, c) the use of new technologies during health crisis towards Small and Medium Enterprises’ increased resilience, d) Small and Medium Enterprises’ actions in terms of tackling the climate change crisis and enhance their organizational resilience, e) the connection between Small and Medium Enterprises’ risk management mechanisms and resilience during financial crisis. The reviewed portfolio uses different methodologies. These include a case study with scenario planning, qualitative research, literature review and systematic literature review with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and the use of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses flow chart and the Critical Appraisal Skills Program list. The main research question that has been addressed by the portfolio is “How can Small and Medium Enterprises’ successfully navigate through crisis?”. The review concludes by proposing a framework, which is based on the portfolio of the examined papers as a yardstick for companies that want to mitigate crises towards enhancing their organizational resilience. Future researchers might need to shed more light on the portfolio’s topic by covering more crises’ types, or by focusing on other countries or continents, or even by using different research methodologies in order to improve research’s external validity.
