Abstract
This concluding chapter presents the integration of various thematic issues captured in numerous chapters of this edited book on sustainable innovation in Africa. It presents an in-depth examination of how sustainability-driven innovation models are transforming the sustainable development discourse in Africa. Given the prospects for green industrialization in Africa, this book presents the multisectoral and multidisciplinary standpoints that are crucial for sustainability debates within the unique economic, social, legal, institutional, and cultural context of Africa. The key thematic areas like environmental degradation, green transition, responsible governance, artificial intelligence, green banking, human capital development, climate change, green industrialization, green entrepreneurship, carbon markets, decarbonization, and green business models emerged in this volume. As a result of conceptual analysis, case studies and empirical evidence mainly grounded in African contexts, the volume highlights how organizations and industries are responding to sustainability imperatives. By linking theory with practice, it offers actionable insights for decision-makers seeking to integrate sustainability, strategy and operations. Lastly, the future research agenda related to sustainability-oriented innovation discourse in Africa is provided.
