Conceptualising student-GenAI knowledge co-creation in higher education.
Innovations in Education and Teaching International.
Abstract
The conceptual paper aims to propose a framework to support students in critically engaging with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) as a co-creative partner in knowledge generation. Grounded on the connectivism theory, a four-stage pedagogical framework of student-GenAI knowledge co-creation, composed of Generative Exploration (stage 1), Epistemic Friction (stage 2), Experiential Stimulation (stage 3), and Knowledge Circulation (stage 4), is proposed. Research avenues, including engagement, critical thinking, trust & scepticism, professional competence development, and epistemic ownership, for future inquiries are also mapped out, structured around the four stages.
