Abstract: | Truck Design (on going) Client: European Automotive/Truck manufactures’ Design: D. G Brooks Design Associates A well-known European automobile company required a ‘scientific’ or technically advanced seating product for their new truck range being launched at various international automobile shows in Europe. The design features new technical and ergonomic content which include vacuum formed trim, Injection moulded structural parts, improved ergonomics with various adjustment options and independent controls for increasing and decreasing seating dimensions. The design has climate control for the progressively sprung seat surfaces. An important aspect of the design is the air suspension that automatically adjusts to various driver weights. This has the effect of providing an isolation zone for the driver thus protecting them from harmful vibrations entering the body. The design was presented at the company’s design headquarters in Germany and Turin. The whole design was created in response to stringent manufacturing and production costs established by the client. The product is considered to be the current state of the art in truck seating design. |
