Prior to moving into primary ITE I worked in five primary schools for 21 years in Yorkshire, teaching across Key Stages 1 and 2. I was a Headteacher for 10 of those years, in two different schools, the first of which I took on as a school recently placed in Special Measure and I had the challenge and pleasure of working with colleagues to bring the school out of Special Measures and on to further success. At York St John I have taught across the BA Primary Education and PGCE programmes, in both professional studies and curriculum modules (Geography, Science and DT). My teaching is currently based on the BA Primary Education course, especially in year 3. My particular interests lie in promoting creativity in primary education and supporting student teachers in developing their professional identities as emerging newly qualified teachers.
