This chapter explains Augmented Reality (AR) and introduces innovative uses of AR in primary education: science is used as an example. One of the main advantages of using AR applications and platforms is the ability to display relevant digital information to support pupils’ learning in real time and through specific contexts. The authors have found, through their research, that augmented reality offers exciting opportunities for pupils to digitally interact in ways traditional teaching methods cannot deliver. The chapter is a summary of ideas from Fearn’s review of published research plus initial findings from his subsequent research.
