No one believes in Mia Carson. Her mum, her best friend, her teacher – everyone’s given up on her. But she’s out to prove them all wrong. She’ll tell her great great auntie Mary’s evacuee story and win The Poppy Project Prize!
Mary shares with Mia her incredible story of World War II – how she was sent to the countryside and met Hannah, a mysterious girl from Austria, who desperately needed her help.
But when Mary suddenly disappears before finishing her story, Mia realises that Mary is the only one who truly believes in her. And that the only way Mia can save Mary is by running away from home
