Abstract

Jane Rand will discuss her conceptual model Dimensions of knowing, which was developed in the context of teacher education, and specifically in response to student teachers’ oppositional conceptualisation of knowledge and skills. The model promotes a connective, relational, epistemology and enabled student teachers to develop new ways of thinking. This paper supports the symposium theme of “Synergies in Practice” by prompting discussion on ways in which new knowledge of changing epistemological paradigms might inform medical education.
