This paper explores ways in which the student's identity as a music producer shapes and defines the student experience. It goes on to examine ways in which the formation of that identity can be foregrounded in the music production curriculum, in order that the student's vision of themselves as part of the music industry directly supports the work that they do and their learning in a vocational context.
