This blog post explores the role of the host with professional dialogue for HEA Fellowship assessments across three UK-based universities. We suggest that the role of a host enhances the notion of trust from the perspective of the person being assessed. Whilst recognising the benefits of the host, there are also draw backs in terms of the time and resource involved in this dedicated role. We concludes by suggesting that colleagues using professional dialogue should actively consider how they establish trust by engaging with the types of behaviours demonstrated by a dedicated host.
