Abstract
Every community carries its own stories, yet these are often overlooked in history teaching. This workshop shows how local places can help children grasp key historical ideas such as chronology, change, and cause and consequence. Drawing on work with primary student teachers, we demonstrate how stepping into familiar environments can spark curiosity and deepen understanding. The session is designed for teachers, student teachers and teacher educators.
