Abstract
The proposed reforms herald potential barriers for generation of more recent teachers who have never experienced anything but modularity, for example in the examinations they themselves have undertaken. Most of the current secondary teaching workforce for the past decade have taught for the modular examination system. The reversion to linear teaching and terminal examinations, coupled with the increased demand in both mathematics and literacy, usher in planning, teaching and assessing issues that will require resource and professional development to implement successfully.
